[Book Description]

This book explains the value of crafts in occupational therapy treatment for students, interns and occupational therapy clinicians. It adopts a historical-anthropological approach to development of crafts, examining the human experience and describing global patterns as well as what is unique to  particular cultural group. Each chapter is prefaced by a brief historical and anthropological look at the craft described. The prevalence of the current use of each craft is discussed. Because the first step in occupational therapy treatment is screening and evaluation, the text tells which formal occupational therapy evaluations are available that use the various crafts. Occupational therapists need to know the various crafts in order to perform these evaluations.
