[Book Description]

The conceptual basis of 『Physical Rehabilitation: Assessment and Treatment』 is established at the outset with three chapters examining clinical decision making, psychosocial concomitants to disability and rehabilitation, and the influence of values on patient care. Thus, the reader is directed early on to develop an understanding of the whole patient and to build effective problem-solving skills. Chapters 4 through 12 focus on procedures used in assessment of patients with physical impairments and disabilities. Chapters 13 and 14 outline general treatment strategies for improving motor control and motor learning and gait. Subsequent chapters, 15 through 30, examine common conditions encountered in general clinical practice together with appropriate examination and intervention strategies. New to the fourth edition is a chapter on vestibular rehabilitation (Chapter 25). Content on special rehabilitation topics includes: prosthetics (Chapter 20), orthotics (Chapter31), the prescriptive wheelchaire (Chapter 32), and biofeedback (Chapter 33).
